Abstract

The aircraft avionics is installed in a very rough environment concerning loads as vibration, shock and quasi static forces. The functioning of the avionics is demanded under all of these operational loads. In the past the reliability of aircraft electronics was guaranteed using components with very high ruggedness against these loads. Many commercially used standard components are not qualified for these demands, which leads to high development and system costs with often reduced electronic performance.

With the presented active 6DOF suspension system an equipment platform has been created where hazardous vibrations and shock are kept away from electronic devices. The system requirements, the system design and first flight tests are presented in the paper as well as the transfer into other applications.
